MO-CASE Executive Director - Job Posting

MO-CASE is seeking a ½ time (130 day annually) Executive Director. The job of Executive Director is to be the voice and face of the MO-CASE organization. Under the direction of the MO-CASE President and the Executive Committee, the Executive Director provides complex confidential administrative support to the Board of Directors; works in conjunction with Policy advisor(s) to develop and support the MO-CASE legislative platform; conveys information regarding organization functions and procedures; serves as the liaison between MO-CASE and other educational agencies; orchestrates and monitors contractual relationships with guest speakers and other purchased services; ensures MO-CASE operates effectively and efficiently; oversees the financial operations of the organization; and completes assigned projects and activities.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Manage the implementation and evaluation of the Board adopted goals.

  • Recommend an annual budget and manage all fiscal procedures for the Board.

  • Serve as custodian of MO-CASE’s property and records.

  • Serve as a liaison with other professional organizations (i.e., DESE, CASE, MASA, CEC).

  • Manage arrangements, prepare materials, coordinate and attend meetings for the Board of Directors.

  • Educate Board members on and ensure compliance with the MOCASE constitution, policies and procedures.

  • Recommend and monitor implementation of policies and practices to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations of the organization.

  • Direct, supervise and evaluate (annually) other MO-CASE employees and contractual providers.

  • Ensure Compliance with all federal, state and organizational reporting requirements.

  • Manage the compilation and submission of the annual CASE unit report.

  • Assist the Publications Chair to ensure the MO-CASE Newsletter is distributed.

  • Use social media to keep members and the public updated on MO-CASE activities.

  • Ensure MO-CASE website is current and provides useful resources to our members.

  • Participate in state and national conferences related to MOCASE, which include the CASE Fall Conference, the CEC Convention and the CASE Summer Legislative Summit.

  • Secure guest speakers for MO-CASE conferences and coordinate travel logistics.

Other Functions  

  • Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or trainings for the purpose of providing or receiving information, and supporting the needs of the attendees.

  • Travel, in state and nationally, as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using job related software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records; and planning and managing projects.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting/bookkeeping principles; business telephone etiquette; common office machines; concepts of grammar and punctuation; office methods and practices; use of social media to communicate activities; website facilitation; and payroll procedures.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.


Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.


Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility desired.


Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Special Education Administration experience, preferred.


Compensation is based on education and experience, but generally is within a range of $38,000 to $50,000.
